Rare ‘Spirit’ Black Bear With White Coat Spotted And Captured By This Photographer (10 Pics) https://ift.tt/09BWMCt
Jenny Stevens, a 77-year-old photographer recently captured the kermode bear, aka the ‘spirit’ bear. This rare black bear is found in the Great Bear Rainforest on the Pacific coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Many people think that the bear is an albino but that’s not true. The rare phenomenon happens when two black bears with recessive genes (such as blue eyes in humans) mate with each other and produce a white cub.
For capturing this bear, Stevens used all Nikon gear with a Nikon 200-400mm lens attached, plus a monopod for support. The spirit bear or the ‘ghost bear’ is recognized as a prominent Native American symbol and is designated as the official animal of British Columbia. Check out some of its stunning images in the gallery below.
