Lan Shengjie, AKA Blue, is a Taiwanese illustrator and a single dad raising a son. He creates heartwarming illustrations showing what it’s like raising a child alone and the adventures the two have.

The artist told Bored Panda he has been working as a freelance artist for almost 20 years. He started illustrating what it’s like to be a single father back in 2014 when his child was born. “When you have a kid, a lot of things happen unexpectedly. However, as I started drawing the surprising moments we shared, I didn’t think they would get such a huge positive response,” says Lan.

Raising a child alone is no easy task and the artist says he’s doing his best to make sure his son grows up in a safe and healthy environment. “I worry about him becoming a hooligan or anything else that can go wrong along the way. That’s why I always try to accompany him as he’s growing up and help him when I can.”
